Lunker trout highlight Weekly Big Fish List

There were a lot of bent rods and stretched nets last week across Northern California. Trophies were caught from the Eastern Sierra to the Mother Lode lakes and into the Bay Area. Here are the Big Fish of the Week:

 

In the Eastern Sierra, Lower Twin Lakes continues to produce double-digit brown trout. Dan Stewart caught-and-released an 11.2 pound brown last week.

 

At Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop, Scott Amorelli of Santa Clarita hauled in the catch of the season with a 7.1 pound rainbow caught trolling with a gold/red Thomas Buoyant.

 

At Bridgeport Reservoir, Robert Woods bagged a 7.5 pound rainbow trolling a #7 countdown Rapala.

 

At Crowley Lake, biggest trout on opening day was a 10.4 pound cutthroat. Tim Begley of Porter Ranch last week landed an 8 pound rainbow using Mice Tails at McGee Cove.

 

Back in the Mother Lode, Lake Camanche produced a big bass and a big trout. Griffin Beecher caught a 15 pound largemouth. Barton Golding accounted for the largest trout, a 12.5 pounder caught with Power Bait in the South Shore Pond.

 

Christoper Wrenn of Modesto landed the big fish of the week at Lake Amador, a 15.8 pound rainbow caught in the Carson arm with a broken-back Rapala. Nine-year old Mariah Jones of Jackson, caught a 9 pound trout trolling a Kastmaster in the Jackson Creek Arm.

 

Collins Lake is considerably lighter after giving up more lunker rainbows. Ted Bertolini of Rohnert Park caught a 8.12 pound trout using a marshmallow. Lani Steele hooked a 8.4 pounder trolling with a hoochie. John Kuntz used orange Power Bait to nail and 8 pound trout near the bridge. James Hayhurst used a trolling fly to nab a 7.4 pounder near the dam. Bill, Rowland and Yvonne Coffman trolled for a 7.4 pound trout.

 


The East Bay lakes have been fruitful waters for big fish hunters. Abby Lev of Sunnuvale took a 13.06 pounder from Peninsula Cove at Los Vaqueros trolling with a Rapala. Chad Spill of Antioch netted a 10.25 pound trout with Power Bait in South Cove.


Jimmy Johnson caught the big fish of the week at Contra Loma Reservoir, a 12 pound trout. Ron Trichell caught a 10.8 pounder using Power Bait at Channel Point. Pat Extrum also used Power Bait at the Swim Lagoon to fool an 8.8 pound rainbow. Christopher Roach landed a 6.4 pound rainbow with a Kastmaster near the dam. Two large bass were landed last week. Mr. Kochaphum caught a 10.6 pound largemouth at Channel Point. Tyler Reynolds caught and released a 7.3 pounder using a plastic worm at Channel Point. Biggest catfish was a 10.12 pound cat caught by Matilde Quiroga.

 

Lake Chabot trout bite was good last week. Matt Dixon of Castro Valley had the most reason to celebrate after hooking a 9.6 pound trout with a Panther Martin from Raccoon Point.

 

At Del Valle, an 18 pound catfish was caught by Michael Killev of Hayward. Biggest trout was 7.8 pounds caught by Maxwell Flores of Mountain View, using a Kastmaster near the East Beach.


San Pablo Reservoir produced a 10 pound trout for Keith Lescure of Morage, who was using Power Bait in Scow Canyon.


Down south at Santa Margarita Lake in San Luis Obispo County, Jim McCann of Cape Cod, MA. Landed a 19.5 pound catfish.
